What Thing Are You Going To Do Today?

Karla Nelson, Principal at Swiss Avenue Partners and founder of SBEIA (Small Business Economic Impact Alliance) sent me a follow-up note after a recent meeting, and on the back of the note was one of the most high-impact quotes I've ever read by Paulo Coelho.  Cuelho is a popular writer most noted for The Alchemist.

"One day you'll wake up and there won't be any more time to do the things you've always wanted.  Do it now."      -Paulo Cuelho-

What thing are you going to do today?

"No." One Of The Most Powerful Words Ever.

This recent post by Seth Godin should remind us all that its okay to say "no."  In fact, saying no may be the best decision you ever make.

From Seth:

No.

No, we don't take clients like that.

No, that's not part of what we offer.

No, that market is too hard for us to service properly.

No, I won't bend on this principle.

No, I'm sorry, I won't be able to have lunch with you.

No, that's not good enough. Will you please do it again?

No, I'm not willing to lose my focus, and no, I'm not willing to compromise.
